Penrite Oil CLASSIC MEDIUM 25W-70 (Mineral)
CLASSIC MEDIUM 25W-70 is a high-quality mineral multigrade engine oil with SAE 25W-70 viscosity, specially developed for classic petrol and diesel engines manufactured between 1945 and 1989. This oil combines a high zinc content (ZDDP) with low detergency and a very high operating temperature viscosity, making it extremely suitable for engines that originally prescribed SAE 40 or SAE 50 monograde oil.
Thanks to its high operating temperature viscosity, CLASSIC MEDIUM helps maintain oil pressure, limit oil consumption, and provide extra protection for engines with larger tolerances or visible wear. The multigrade properties also ensure better cold start protection than traditional monograde oils.
A special "tacky additive" ensures that the oil adheres to internal engine components during downtime. In combination with additional rust inhibitors, this provides excellent protection against corrosion and internal wear during storage or seasonal dormancy.
Application
CLASSIC MEDIUM 25W-70 is suitable for classic vehicles built between 1945 and 1989 and can be used in petrol and diesel engines with an oil filter. The oil is developed for engines that originally prescribed SAE 40 or SAE 50 and can be used in passenger cars, 4WDs, trucks, buses, tractors, and industrial machinery. Thanks to its higher viscosity, CLASSIC MEDIUM 25W-70 is particularly suitable for engines with higher wear or increased oil consumption, for use in moderate to warm climates, as a summer oil, or as a heavier alternative to CLASSIC LIGHT.
Motorcycles & Transmissions
CLASSIC MEDIUM 25W-70 is recommended for pre-1980 motorcycles and is suitable for wet clutches. The oil can be used in systems where engine and gearbox oil are combined and is ideal for pre-Evolution (1984) Harley-Davidson engines. Additionally, it is suitable for larger European, British, and Japanese classic motorcycles.
Not intended for modern engines with DPF, catalytic converters, or low-SAPS requirements.
Advantages
CLASSIC MEDIUM 25W-70 contains a very high zinc content (ZDDP) for maximum wear protection and has a low detergent action, making it safe for older engine designs. The very high viscosity at operating temperature helps maintain oil pressure and reduce oil consumption, while the better cold start protection compared to monograde SAE 40/50 oils limits starting wear. In addition, the oil protects engines during standstill and storage, is suitable for wet clutches and combined systems, and ideal for warmer conditions and heavy loads.
