Penrite Oil CLASSIC MINI 20W-50 (Mineral)
Classic Mini 20W-50 is a high-quality mineral engine oil with SAE 20W-50 viscosity, specially developed for all classic Minis where the engine and gearbox use the same oil. This oil was developed in collaboration with International Mini Clubs and Mini owners in the UK and Australia, and is fully tailored to the unique requirements of the Mini A-series engines.
The formulation combines a high zinc content (ZDDP) for maximum wear protection of camshafts and tappets, with GL-4 properties for smooth and reliable gearbox operation. As a result, Classic Mini 20W-50 offers both excellent engine protection and smooth shifting behavior, without adverse effects on gears or synchromesh rings.
Thanks to high-quality mineral base oils and carefully selected additives, this oil exceeds the original factory specifications for classic Minis, both in terms of protection and durability.
Application
Classic Mini 20W-50 has been specifically developed for all classic Minis (1959–2000) with a combined engine and gearbox system. The oil is suitable for Austin, BMC, and Leyland vehicles, including Mini derivatives such as Austin Mini / Seven / 850, Morris Mini / 850 / Mascot, Rover Mini, Riley Elf, Wolseley Hornet, Innocenti Mini, Mini Moke, Leyland Mini, and other variants. In addition, Classic Mini 20W-50 can be used in other classic vehicles with a combined engine/transmission system from Austin, BMC & Leyland, including Austin 1100/1300/1500, Morris 1000S, Austin 1800, and Tasman/Kimberley.
This oil seamlessly replaces older 20W-40, 20W-50, or SAE 30 monograde oils originally specified for these vehicles.
Not suitable for modern vehicles with separate engine and transmission lubrication or low-SAPS requirements.

Thanks to its high zinc content (ZDDP), wear on camshafts and other highly stressed components is effectively reduced. The stable SAE 20W-50 viscosity (“stay-in-grade”) guarantees reliable lubrication under various conditions, while the oil provides protection against rust and corrosion. Furthermore, it exceeds original OEM specifications, making it ideal for both daily use and recreational driving with classic Minis.
